Midnite Plowboy (1971) Midnight Plowboy is one of director Bethel G. Buckalew's greatest films in his all too brief career. While not as good as Boys Will Be Boys, Midnight Plowboy is a hilarious spoof of the pretensious 1969 film that stole the Oscar from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This movie parodies such so called serious classics and shows true depth and symbolism that is only matched today by a genius like Andy Sadaris. Midnight Plowboy is a true forerunner of such films like the Toxic Avenger and the Vice Academy. The Wizard of Oz was not a success when it was initially released in 1939, why not Midnight Plowboy? Water Power (1977) Loosely based on the exploits of The Enema Bandit, a criminal who would sexually assault his victims before forcefully administering an enema, Water Power is a hell of a sleazy film. A twisted cross between Scorsese's Taxi Driver and a grimy 70s XXX feature, it follows nut-job rapist Burt (played by porn-star Jamie Gillis) as he sets out to cleanse the filthy women of New York, via the use of high colonics. Directed by smut-merchant Shaun Costello (but often accredited to Gerard 'Deep Throat' Damiano), this film inevitably features a fair dose of hardcore sex acts and 'other scenes of a graphic nature', but it also works as a thriller (thanks largely to Gillis's convincing turn as a total crackpot), meaning that fans of extreme exploitation can offer up a fairly valid (if not completely convincing) excuse for watching this filthy, disturbing and quite nauseating fetish flick. The Beast That Killed Women (1965) The "nudie-cutie" is without a doubt one of the campiest genres in the history of American cinema. Prevented by the censors from doing anything stronger, 60's exploitation filmmakers like David Freiedman, Herschel Gordon Lewis, and Barry Mahon resorted to making "nature documentaries"--basically home movies shot at nudist camps (although the actual nudists were usually told to take a hike and attractive and voluptuous nude models were put in their place). Naturally, the acting and production values were atrocious and the films were much more silly than erotic. It is always refreshing to see naked women before the modern era of institutionalized anorexia and silicone implants, but you'd do better with the later 70's sexploitation films like the "roughies" or the "ghoulies" which often featured the same kinds of women but were far sleazier and had actual (and often mind-warping) plots. You see one nudie-cutie film on the other hand you've seen them all.
